The Flag book

In 1989 Thomas Bertschi prints twenty white Umbul Umbul in the colours of the rainbow - taking them back to Switzerland as Rainbow Flags for the visual announcement of the Planetary Partnership congress in Interlaken. This is how the journey of the rainbow flags all over the world began.

This journey is now published in the book "Fahnen". The book edited by Thomas Bertschi documents different projects including rainbow flags, which have taken place over the last forteen years. It teaches, encourages and inspires the reader to create, and it tells the story of the Umbul Umbul flags and of other flags of this world. The book was published in August 2003 by the AT Verlag.
